,

Coming to the cawapres debate held at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), the presidential-cawapres pair (paslon) Ganjar Pranowo and Mahfud MD appeared in striking clothes.

Candidate candidate number three wore regional clothes, where Mahfud MD wore clothes typical of his hometown, Madura. Meanwhile, Ganjar wears traditional men’s clothing from Rote Island, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

Ganjar wears it to accompany Mahfud MD, what is the meaning of Rote Island men’s traditional clothing?

Rote traditional clothing for men is typical with a plain white long-sleeved shirt combined with woven cloth as a bottom. The woven cloth is also draped over the left shoulder with the same motif as the bottom.

If you don’t wear a white shirt, this traditional clothing is only a cloth with a bare chest. Apart from woven cloth, the characteristic clothing of Rote data is also equipped with Ti’i langga. Ti’i langga is a typical Rote hat with a wide shape like a Mexican hat.

Rote traditional clothing apparently has a deep philosophy. The Ti’i phallus senidri hat has a pointed shape at the top.

The pointed top seems to depict the character of the Rote people who have strong determination.

This Ti’i phallic hat is also made from dry palm leaf. This leaf is believed to be a symbol of authority and trust for the men of the Rote tribe.
