Vice presidential candidate (cawapres) number 2, Gibran Rakabuming Raka has a new name given by the public on social media, namely Samsul.
Where does the name Samsul come from?
Samsul is an abbreviation of sulfuric acid which made Gibran’s name widely discussed by the public.
Sulfuric acid which is a liquid for making batteries, accumulators and this paper was said by Gibran when explaining nutrition for pregnant women.
In fact, what Gibran should have conveyed was folic acid.
However, because of a mispronunciation, Gibran became a target for the public, especially among netizens.
A video clip showing Gibran mispronouncing folic acid as sulfuric acid went viral on various social media.
“Then when you are pregnant you have to check for example sulfuric acid, is your iodine sufficient or not, when your child is born until 2 years old is your breast milk sufficient or not, is your weight and height okay or not,” said Gibran, quoted by from a TikTok video @idrisbue on Monday (4/12/2023).
As a result, the figure of Gibran became the talk of the town using the term sulfuric acid.
Over time, the term sulfuric acid was shortened to samsul and became a new nickname for Gibran.
Gibran doesn’t seem to be bothered by his new nickname.

“Samsul,” he tweeted via the @gibran_tweet account on Wednesday (20/12/2023).
He also didn’t seem to have a problem when member of the PSI DPP Advisory Board, Giring Ganesha, uploaded a picture of AI Gibran with the words Samsul.
As of Saturday (23/12/2023), Samsul’s nickname was also trending on social media
